Story Synopsis:

One Piece is the story of a lad named Monkey D. Luffy who was inspired by the scarlet-Haired Shanks, a pirate. At the beginning of the series, twenty two years from the existing chronology, 1500 AOS a pirate named Gold Roger, known as the Pirate King was put to death, but just prior to his demise, he told the crowd of his secret treasure, "One Piece". His death ignited what would become the Golden Age of Pirates as heaps of pirates set out to search for his buried fortune. Luffy becomes one as well, desiring to be the next Pirate King and sets out to gather crewmates or his nakama, his most trusting comrades and begin his adventures. One Piece has since spanned beyond more than a simple pirating tale. Through the years of its publication, One Piece has taken drasticaly differing paths in its storyline, at some points teetering off the original focus of the pursuit of becoming Pirate King. Each character has their own passionate and often dark story to tell. One Piece also has been noted to include many themes such as what treasure really is, the definition of justice and the concept of chasing ones dreams.
